Priortizing Your Health For Care Givers and Those Cared For

As we step into a new year, prioritizing our health can take center stage. Although you may have heard some or all of these before, it’s always worth a review and an opportunity to reevaluate our routines and habits.

While going through them, consider which ones you are currently doing and which could use more attention that you will start incorporating into your days again.  Any creative ways to help you make them a more regular part of your day? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

So, here are some relatively uncomplicated yet powerful tips to enhance your well-being as part of your daily routine:

1. Hydrate for Health Kickstart your metabolism by beginning your day with a refreshing glass of water. Even better, adding a pinch of sea salt (which is high in minerals), and/or another good source of electrolytes (without added sugar) to the water helps with its absorption a ton. —> Adequate hydration and absorption supports digestion, energy levels, and overall vitality!

2. Nutrition You may want to think about your diet every week instead of just daily.  Are you getting a good variety of fruits and veggies, especially, into your weekly meals? —> Aim for a naturally colorful and diverse plate. Colors in fruits and vegetables are signs of a variety of essential nutrients. Eat the rainbow! :)

3. Move Regularly Yes, we hear this but how do we do it in our busy days? Find types of movement you enjoy is key AND do what can be called "exercise snacks," short bursts of activity, 1-5 minutes long (or even less - 10 squats will add up!!).  —> Play some favorite tunes while tapping your foot and moving your head is a great place to start. I love to create ‘movement playlists’ that get me in the mood to ‘shake it’. One of my go-to's recently is the song “Better When I’m Dancing”. How about you?  :)

4. Prioritize Sleep As trite as it might sound, sleep quality honestly is a KEY to health. The body rejuvenates during a good night's sleep. This can be especially hard if you are doing a night shift or have other things keeping you up during the night.  —> Taking some quality herbal remedies such as valerian root and lavender, and listening to ‘guided sleep meditations’ to help the body and mind settle down at the end of a full day can be a great way to aid your sleep quality.

By incorporating these simple tips, including the concept of exercise snacks, into your daily routine, you set the stage for a healthier and more vibrant year. Remember, small changes can make a significant impact on your overall well-being. Here's to a healthier you! You are worth it!!! ❤️
